Atomic Billiards

A new favorite.

This place is a little tricky to find (at least for me). It is a door right next to something else with atomic in the name, and the actual street address seems to refer to a mart right next to it. So from across the street my weak eyes were not able to tell where it was, until Jason stood outside and waved to me... maybe I'm just a blind old bat at the age of 25.

Place is a mix between the crowd/vibe/activities at Dremo's and Galaxy Hut, but without the beer selection. The bottle selection was pretty impressive, but on draft not so awesome. The Happy Hour was restricted to a few on tap, on this particular Wednesday (I believe it changes day to day) it was $1 off Miller & Yuengling. Happy Hour lasted until 8pm, which is always nice when treking from Old Town to Cleveland Park.

There is no kitchen at this bar, so outside food is welcome. We got an affordable pizza from another bar down the way which was acceptable. Next time I'd just grab a deli sandwich, or, in total copy-cat mode of other patrons, get a few bags of chips and just make it into one big anti-health-fest.

The Dart League was quietly going on in the corner. The Jukebox was, in a few words, completely phenomenal. We didn't put in one quarter because the people filling it up had supremely awesome taste and our crew of 6 felt no need to step in. The Jukebox was being updated as we were there — so you'd get a variety whenever you visit — a first!

In summary — I loved it. Basement feel/divey, but one I would call my own if it were a little closer to me. Crowd that is chatty if you want, or leaves you alone if you already have your group. I plan on visiting again soon and maybe this time not being a handicap when playing shuffleboard.

Anyone else have any thoughts on your experience here? Please post :)

the deal:
4-8pm All Days Except Friday
4-9pm Fri
On Wednesday, $1 Yuengling & Miller
No Food Specials because there is no Kitchen.

Best jukebox in DC, no question. The staff even make their own mix CDs! To those who couldn't make it, I suggest we have a potluck there in the future.
