PS7's

Last night we turned the dial to "Swank" and visited PS7's in Gallery Place. The bar has only three seating areas besides, well, the bar, and a lot of open space, which was perfect for a Monday night with almost no other visitors. We sat around a table with unfurled hay inside the glass top (trust me, it looks much better than I'm describing it) and enjoyed a pretty good happy hour special considering they serve more than the usual domestic BudBudLightMillerLiteCoorsLight grand slam of swill. I had a vanilla sidecar which used a sweet and sour mix instead of traditional lemon and it was very well balanced. The music selection was rather eclectic, even playing A Tribe Called Quest. Are we really old enough that Tribe is considered cool yet acceptable in a place like that? Musical nostalgia aside, I thought the bar created a great atmosphere that was classy without being stuffy. I'd definitely recommend it, but get there before 7 - drinks get pricey afterward.

thanks for this post jason.

The place looked awesome — great textures all over the place, nice colors, very well lit, sets the mood (for whatever mood you're in the mood for).

I asked Jason to write this one up because I had a bad experience with the bar tender charging me for a drink he gave me as a sample. I didn't have the backbone to tell him I didn't even ask for the drink (I hate confrontation)... so I am clearly biased. Usually not an issue for a $3 beer, but for a $7 cocktail, I don't think I'll ever return. What a butt-face.

.... drinks were tasty though. But I dropped a wad, which for me is anti-happy hour. Really it makes not so happy hour. or... slant-face hour (or something similar).
